Pale, small broccoli heads

Another mystery for me this season:

Our Belstar Broccoli have pale heads and a lot fo them are small and irregularly shaped. I’m going to go with nutrient deficiency on this one as inputs were minimal this year and I don’t know the history of the plot.

I’m hesitating though because, strangely enough, cauliflower in the two beds immediately adjacent to the broccoli are doing rather well in comparison under the exact same conditions. What do you think?

hey Denis,

that does look odd. have you chopped one to see what the core of the stem looks like? I think I recall that some deficiencies can cause a hollow, rotten core and that might be something affecting the heads in this way. The rest of the plant looks great though, so this is weird! Keep us posted if you find anything out.
